Poor sleep can have a significant impact on your overall health and quality of life. Common
symptoms associated with inadequate sleep include memory difficulties, impaired concentration,
mood changes, weakened immune function, weight gain, elevated blood pressure, daytime
drowsiness, and poor balance. In children, sleep-related breathing issues may also contribute to
bedwetting, behavioral concerns at school, headaches, constant fatigue, and symptoms that
resemble ADD/ADHD. Sleep apnea can occur in several forms, all of which may have serious
long-term health consequences if left untreated.
Snoring is often harmless, but in some cases it can be a sign of a more serious underlying airway
issue such as Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS) or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
Some contributing factors may include tongue-tie, chronic nasal congestion, midface anatomy,
crowded teeth, poor sleep positioning, alcohol consumption, and sleep deprivation.
At Cedar Lodge Dental, we recognize the important connection between airway health, sleep
quality, and overall wellness. While we do not directly diagnose or medically treat sleep apnea,
some dental therapies and oral appliance treatments may be recommended as part of a
comprehensive treatment plan prescribed by a certified sleep medicine physician.
We believe strongly in interdisciplinary care and work collaboratively with sleep medicine
specialists, physicians, ENTs, orthodontists, and other healthcare providers to help patients
achieve healthier sleep and improved overall health. Our role is to support airway health and
provide dental treatments that may complement medically supervised sleep apnea care when
appropriate.
Every patient is unique, which is why our approach is tailored to each individual’s symptoms,
concerns, and overall health goals.
